Scoreboard Moving Day

Sunday March 18, 2001

Umpires occasionally complain the scoreboard's center field location is a confusing distraction--the pitcher's hand appears to come out of the lights. During night games, it's practically guaranteed they'll order it shut off. After long last, the school and the Booster Club went ahead with plans to relocate the board to right field, where it will provide opponents with woeful news day or night.

The easy way to move a large fixture like this is to hire a crane. But cranes are terribly expensive and difficult to schedule for a ballfield adjacent to an already-cramped parking lot. So a few of our faithful took to it themselves with ropes and pulleys.

If anyone knows someplace in town that will rent or sell a block and tackle (or even knows what one is!) please let us know in case we ever have another project like this!
